Putting in the Time

I got together with my peer critique partner this weekend and we switched manuscripts. It was AWESOME to hear her feedback and questions, to think about the way she viewed some of the characters and action, and really, REALLY eye-opening to hear her thoughts about the story in its entirety. She’s the first person to read the story start to finish and with her feedback, along with feedback from the chapters I’ve brought to our regular meetings and feedback on the story pitch, I am anxious to begin the work of revising the story. We’re going to wait until the beginning of next month to switch our next manuscripts. That will give us time to make any revisions to those manuscripts before we switch them, and time to focus on other projects we’re each contributing to.

I’m going to take the majority of this week to make any last revisions on the paper copy of the manuscript before I put those revisions in Scrivener. Then it will be ready by the end of the month to swap with my peer critique partner. Once that’s done, it will be time to start the full revision of the manuscript I just got back. And honestly, that’s going to take as long as it’s going to take. I had to remind myself, continue to remind myself actually, that this is all going to take a lot of time. I’ve put in a lot of time, but it’s going to a lot more time still.
