NaNoWriMo- Ready?

Notes are done. Pre-writing activities were attempted (some finished, some not.) My document is set. I’m as ready as I can be.

Bring it on NaNoWriMo.

I’m trying not to get caught up in the worries of what I will write the first day or the second, or what happens when I sit down to write and don’t know where I’m headed. Worrying needlessly now will only tire me before the challenge has begun.  Instead, I’m working hard to finish all those things that help center me.  I’ve changed out some of the inspirational knickknacks in my space.  I’m working on making the playlist that will be the soundtrack for the story.  And most of all, I’m focused on being in the present.

One of the things I wanted to do this week, was to make more detailed notes for each act of the story.  I thought that if I could break each of the three acts in the story down to the scenes needed to complete it, then I could figure out which day those scenes would need to be written.  Every time I sat down at my computer to try and complete this activity, my story would shut itself off from me.  I would watch as the walls came down, and no matter my poking and prodding at it,  it refused to give up its secrets.  Eventually, I let it be.  I had to remind myself that I didn’t need to do this.  If it wasn’t meant to happen, I wasn’t going to force it .  I trust my story.

That is where the end of this week, and the end of this month-long preparation has left me.  I’m ready as I can be, or as ready as my story has allowed me to be, and so very excited to follow these characters into their world.

If you’re planning on signing up for a profile on NaNoWriMo, look me up so we can become writing buddies on the site.  If you’re taking on the challenge but not signing up for a profile, please come here during the month and we can cheer each other on toward that 50,000 word goal.  There is no wrong way to get those 50,000 words.  Support toward such a massive goal is important, no matter the journey taken to get there. 🙂

Are you feeling ready for the challenge?  Or are there last minute preparations or activities your going to squeeze in before the challenge begins November first?

Happy Writing!
